What to expect

At your full consultation, the orthodontist will conduct a thorough examination and discuss their findings with you.

There are 3 possible outcomes from this examination:

  1. No treatment is needed. You can be confident that we will always tell you if no treatment is required.
  2. Treatment is needed, but first:
        • Further dental and facial development needs to occur.
Your child will join our Grow With Us™ program to monitor
their growth and ensure that treatment occurs at the
           right time for them.
        • or, Your overall dental health needs to be improved
  3. Ready to start treatment - Treatment is needed and we recommend that it is the right time for you to commence.

We may recommend diagnostic records be taken either at this appointment or at another time. Diagnostic records provide the information needed to assess dentition and facial development so that a plan of treatment can be determined.

Diagnostic records may include:

  • all teeth and supporting structures
  •  A scanning radiograph which allows examination of all teeth and supporting structures
  •  A profile radiograph to assess the skeletal structure of the face
  •  A Trios scan to produce a 3D model of your teeth
  • Digital photographs
  • 3D digital photographs
